Terms of Service — Splinter

Effective date: July 22, 2026

By adding Splinter (“the bot”) to a Discord server or using its commands, you agree to these terms.

1. The service

Splinter is a Discord bot providing moderation utilities, games, an in-server points economy, reminders, music playback, anonymous confessions, and image search, among other features. It is provided as-is, on a best-effort basis, without uptime guarantees.

2. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Splinter to:

• Violate Discord’s Terms of Service or Community Guidelines.
• Harass, threaten, or target another user.
• Attempt to abuse, overload, or exploit the bot (e.g. deliberately triggering excessive requests to bypass rate limits).
• Post or request content involving minors in any sexual context, regardless of channel settings — this is prohibited absolutely and will result in an immediate, permanent ban from using the bot and a report to Discord Trust & Safety.

3. NSFW features

The /gif command can return adult content and only functions in channels a server has explicitly marked NSFW in Discord’s own settings. Enabling an NSFW channel and this feature is the responsibility of server administrators, who confirm their server and members meet Discord’s age requirements for such content.

4. Points and in-server economy

Points, shop items, and cosmetic rewards (e.g. custom color roles) have no monetary value, cannot be purchased with real money, and cannot be exchanged, transferred to, or redeemed on any other service. We may reset, adjust, or wipe point balances at our discretion, including to correct bugs or abuse.

5. Content posted through Splinter

• Confessions are posted anonymously to a channel a moderator configures, but the bot retains the author’s user ID and username internally so a moderator can look it up via /confess-reveal if needed (e.g. to address harassment or illegal content). Confessions are not private from server moderators.

6. Third-party services

Some commands send data to external providers (Anthropic, DuckDuckGo, Serper.dev, Lavalink/media sources) to function — see the Privacy Policy for details. We aren’t responsible for those providers’ availability, accuracy, or content.

7. No warranty

Splinter is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We don’t guarantee the bot will be error-free, available at all times, or fit for any particular purpose. Search results, AI-generated replies, and game outcomes are provided without any guarantee of accuracy or appropriateness.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Splinter, including loss of points, data, or archived content.

9. Termination

We may remove Splinter from a server, disable features, or block a user from using the bot at any time, for any reason, including suspected abuse or violation of these terms.

10. Changes

We may update these terms as Splinter changes. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
